Villas with a private pool in Malaga

A private pool changes a Malaga holiday. Instead of walking to a crowded hotel terrace you step out of the kitchen door at eight in the morning, before the city wakes, and swim while the light is still low over the bay. Our villa sits on the Gibralfaro hillside, ten minutes above the old town, with the water heated from October to May.

    What the hillside gives you

The Gibralfaro side of Malaga is residential rather than touristic. Neighbours walk dogs on the castle road, the bakery on the corner opens at seven, and taxis to the centre cost under ten euros. You get the quiet of a hill village with the Picasso museum, the port and the tapas streets a short ride below.

We look after the house ourselves. There is no lockbox chain, no cleaning company you never meet: we hand over the keys, tell you which beach is calm when the wind turns, and answer the phone if the coffee machine misbehaves.

    Good to know

Is the pool heated all year?
Yes. The pool is heated from October through May and holds around 28 degrees, so it is usable outside the summer season as well.
    How far is the beach?
La Malagueta beach is about eight minutes by car and roughly twenty-five minutes on foot downhill.
    Do you need a car?
Not strictly, but it helps. Taxis into the centre are cheap and frequent; a car makes the white villages and Nerja easy day trips.
