Staying within reach of Malaga old town
Most visitors want the old town in the evening and quiet at night. Staying inside the centre gives you the first and rarely the second. Our villa on the Gibralfaro hillside is a ten-minute taxi ride from the cathedral and completely silent after dark.
Walking down, riding back
The walk down through the castle woods to Plaza de la Merced takes about twenty-five minutes and is genuinely beautiful. Almost everyone walks down in the afternoon and takes a taxi back up after dinner, which costs less than a glass of wine.
For orientation: Calle Larios, the Roman theatre, the port promenade and the Thyssen museum are all within a fifteen-minute walk of each other once you are down.
