Benalmadena and Fuengirola: what is actually there
The stretch between Benalmadena and Fuengirola has a reputation shaped by the nineteen-eighties that no longer fits. Behind the promenade there is a working Spanish coast: a commuter train every twenty minutes, a good market on Tuesdays and long flat beaches that suit families.
Getting around
The C1 train runs from Fuengirola to Malaga city and the airport, stopping at Carvajal just below Higueron West. It takes about thirty-five minutes to central Malaga and removes any need to drive into the city.
Beaches and marinas
Carvajal beach is the closest and the calmest. Benalmadena marina is worth an evening walk. Fuengirola has the wide family beaches and the Tuesday market by the fairground.
